Norani Abu Bakar
Norani Abu Bakar is the founder of The Blue Ribbon Global, a program that develops and delivers transformative education for building harmonious relationship between people and with the nature. Currently, she is the Executive Director of UCSI Group – UN Sustainable Development Goals Office and the secretary of the Centre for Peace and Unity Education, Malaysia. The Centre’s partners represent youth and multicultural communities in Malaysia. It is established to empower and incubate youth leadership in building unity in diversity locally and internationally. Norani is also working with Potato Production, Singapore on permaculture projects related to refugees’ involvement on soil regeneration and food security. Norani was a Post Graduate Fellow at the Yale Center for Faith and Culture after she completed her Masters of Arts in Religion at the same university. She also holds a MBA in Asian Studies and a BSc. in Chemical Engineering with specialization on Power Plant and Nuclear Engineering. Norani worked as a Senior Process Engineer and a Process Engineering Project Team Leader at Siemens Power Generation, Germany for several years. She is now pursuing her PhD at Faculty of Arts and Social Science, University Malaya, Malaysia. Norani lived in Shanghai for 11 years, and established Asian Touch, the first Southeast Asian Life Style and Home Decor business there. Through her company, she founded Home Sweet Home – a social enterprise that runs a holistic intervention program for the differently abled and unsheltered above age orphans in China in 2005. She has lived in Canada, Germany, Thailand, China, USA and Singapore.
