Mahboob Omary is an IT specialist at the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) with years of experience in youth and peace-related activities. He started his volunteer work with Model UN programs and was involved in organization of 2 conferences in Afghanistan, participated in the Everest Model UN Conference in Nepal and Model OIC program in Azerbaijan. Through these programs, hundreds of Afghan youths are trained and practiced leadership, speaking, and negotiation skills. In 2018 he participated in a 20-day peace and conflict resolution training in Bangalore, India. This program thought him new skills of conflict resolution and peace-building. In 2019, he participated in Unleash innovation lab to work on finding innovative solutions for the SDG goals. As capacity building officer at AYEPO, he is working with a team of volunteers to organize and conduct pieces of training for youths to enhance their skills in areas such as leadership, soft skills and mentorship initiatives.
